Ian Cockburn received his PhD from the University of Edinburgh where he studies the genetic basis of resistance to malaria under Dr Alex Rowe. Since his post-doctoral years at Johns Hopkins University he has been particularly interested in adaptive immune responses to Plasmodium sporozoites. He is currently an Associate Professor at the Australian National University.
